Psalm 119:125
I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes.
When King David wrote this Psalm, his prayer to God was as his servant his desire was to be blessed with the spiritual gift of discernment. He wanted to be given direction and full understanding in the statutes so that he could make sound judgments.
When we consider possessing this spiritual gift of discernment what we can keep in mind is that it is more than a skill, and that it is a process that can be sharpened and developed over time. When we pay attention to intuition that is our spirit trying to share something with us. The more we are sensitive to our spirit the more we can develop our spiritual discernment skills.
The opposite can also be true. If we ignore little nudging’s that are warning us about something, that is our intuition on alert. Don’t ignore these little nudging’s. It is your spiritual gift of discernment at work. Your spirit is only preparing you for something, so get ready.
The spiritual gift of discernment is a wonderful gift to possess when you are trying to determine the direction that you should take or have full understanding of a situation. It’s a judgment call and your spirit is there to guide you through it step by step.
