So, you recently accepted a new position. And after working there a few weeks you begin to question – are you happy? Or has your new boss asked you if you were happy with your job? Only one of my bosses during my entire work history has ever asked me if I was happy working at an organization. When he asked, he then took the time to listen to my response, and I felt reassured that my happiness at work was important to him. And that he was genuinely interested in whatever he could do to help make my transition into a new job and organization as pleasant as possible.
When it comes to finding a certain level of happiness at a new job there are some factors that are within your control. Being aware of these factors could make the difference when planning your next career move. Here are just a few recommendations of what you should consider when strategizing for your next employment opportunity.
Conduct an Informational Interview
It’s okay to learn as much as you can about a potential employer before you take on a new position. Make inquiries about the position, the organization, and any aspect that you may need clarification on before you take on a new role.
Know Your Strengths
Another name for your strengths is your gifts – spiritual gifts. These are the natural abilities that you have been blessed with to perform a task or job description. When seeking new employment opportunities seek out opportunities that utilize your gifts or strengths.
Know that the specific job(s) that will bring you happiness is attainable, but it’s up to you not to get distracted by applying for positions that are not in your best interest. Rely on your intuition as a guide to help you identify positions that you are a great fit for. If you don’t have peace about it – don’t apply.

When I think 🤔 about all the blessings that I have received from God, I realize that I had to do my part to manifest and receive His gifts 🎁. Typically my part always included visualization. Simply imagining how wonderful my life would be like after the blessing occurred.
Have you ever tried visualization? I promise you that it is easy and it works. Just close your eyes and imagine living in the moment of receiving your blessings.
For those of you who have not tried visualization, it could be why you are challenged to manifest and receive all that God has for you, and much more.
A common reason that resumes are rejected is that they do not meet ATS standards. What is ATS? ATS or applicant tracking systems are resumé screening software that uses algorithms to streamline the hiring process for recruiters when an open position generates hundreds of resumés.
Although there are different types of ATS, most operate as a filter to help recruiters and hiring managers to reduce the candidate application pool. ATS can make this determination by scanning resumés, then sorting and ranking applicants to determine which candidates most closely align with the open position based on qualifications and the use of keywords.
If you are planning to submit a resumé soon, there are a few dos and don’ts that I typically share with my internship students to help them ATS proof their resumés. Noted below are a few ATS strategies to keep in mind. Good luck!
Use a professional resumé template
Make sure your resume is scannable
Quantify your work experiences
Tell a story of your past successes using the CAR Method
Use universal fonts (Times New Roman, Arial, Cambria, Garamond)
Some call it intuition, some say they hear a still small voice, and some may refer to it as a prompting. In the #1 best-selling book Visual Prayer: How to Create a Spiritual Vision Board, the phrase Spiritual Enlightenment is commonly used. Spiritual Enlightenment or promptings means that you recognize and acknowledge a knowing that is deeper than your natural understanding.
A knowing that is intended to help you, guide you, and provide you with a connection to an unfolding of wisdom unlike you have ever experienced before. So, what should you do?
Follow the Promptings!
Know that these promptings are God’s way of sharing with you …
A form of communication
Guidance to receive your prayer requests
Warning of a potentially harmful situation
Your Response to Promptings.
Acknowledge and obey. Trust God’s love and His desire to provide you with a prosperous future that is filled with hope (Jeremiah 29:11). So, follow the promptings!
Know that with continued acknowledgement of promptings and practice of prayer and meditation, that your promptings and Spiritual Enlightenment will become more frequent and insightful.
Staying positive and encouraged can be challenging, especially these days. But practicing self-affirmations can uplift you and change a negative mindset. Here are a few affirmations that you can use to start your day off right!
One aspect that I love about spring, other than it is the season for my birthday, is that it’s a great way to think about seasonal beginnings. Spring represents a fresh start and is commonly associated with rebirth, renewal, and resurrection. This sense of renewal is expressed in one of author Robert Orben’s quotes that states, “Spring is God’s way of saying, one more time!” After long and cold wintry days, spring provides hope and rejuvenation. Cold crisp days of past thaw to express the warmth of the morning sun that provides an inviting reawakening.
Our fur-covered friends emerge from hibernation. Rain showers douse the dry stiff ground, giving life to blossoming flowers and budding trees. Birds fill the air with joyful songs. When we think about spring holidays and celebrations, environmentalists support the preservation of our planet through Earth Day, and Christians partake in one of the most sacred days of remembrance and celebration – Resurrection Sunday.
For those of you who are spiritual vision board enthusiasts, this is a great time to begin or revise your spiritual vision board. Focus on that goal, dream, or vision that God gave you and take the first steps in manifesting and receiving it.
If someone you know and trust has made you a promise, then how would you approach them when asking to take possession of that promise? I would suggest – confidently!
There are 1000s of promises that God has made to all of His children. And those promises include delighting ourselves in Him so that He will bless us with the desires of our heart (Psalm 37:4).
Did you know that God’s promises and His word cannot return void (Isaiah 55:11)? Which means that His word and promises must produce an effect. But only if we learn how to apply them. This is why speaking affirmations and mantras based on scripture are so powerful.
