#MeaningfulMonday: My Primary Frustration about Ask Believe Receive!

For this #MeaningfulMonday I would like to share with you one of my primary frustrations, specifically in regards to the phrase ask believe receive. I get very frustrated when someone uses a phrase that they did not create, but states it over and over as though it was their own.

For those of you who know me know that my background is in education, specifically I’ve worked in higher education for more than 20, primarily as a college professor and I still teach college in addition to running my consulting business AskDrCris. The reason why I brought up my background in education is because in the field of education there is a term that refers to this practice and it plagiarizing. So what does plagiarizing  mean exactly? According to dictionary.com it is “ the practice of taking someone else work or ideas and passing them off as your own.

There are 3 basic phrases that the Law of Attraction and The Secret uses quite often that is not original, but they pass these phrases off as though they created them.

  1. Ask Believe Receive
  2. What You Focus on You Attract
  3. Turn Your Visions and Goals into a Vision Board

For the first phrase Ask Believe Receive, we can find this scripture in two difference places in the Bible Mark 11:24 and Matthew 21:22. More specifically we will find the following:

Mark 11:24Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Matthew 21:22 “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”

For the second phrase What You Focus on You Attract, we can find the meaning behind this statement in Proverbs 23:7 which states “As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.” So we know whatever we think about and focus on, we will attract.

The third phrase of turning your visions and goals into a Vision Board can be found in Habakkuk 2:2-3 which states “Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time.”

If we take our vision one step further and add visual images that reflect our verbal words than we add depth to our vision boards. I’ve discovered that we can give our vision boards more power when using scriptures as affirmations, mantras, and motivational statements. It’s like God is endorsing what we are praying for, because we are using His words to support our requests.

My recommendation for all of you is to consider the power of the words from the Bible and use that power to support the desires of your heart by making a spiritual vision board instead of a traditional vision board that doesn’t acknowledge the words of God.

Here’s my video which shares a little more details about my primary frustration.
