How Strong is Your Foundation?

The analogy of the number four in numerology is like the four corners of a foundation.  If all four corners are strong and holding up their part, the entire structure will be strong.  If one corner is weak or failing in some way, there will be weaknesses within the whole structure.

In feng shui, foundation is a very important part of maintaining good energy, the key word being balanceIt is impossible to have balance when some part of your life is challenged – if the foundation isn’t strong in all four corners, or in this case, in all the foundational ways.  You will have an idea of what this feels like if you get up in the morning feeling less than optimistic about your world.  Yes, there may be things going on to cause you to feel that way, but you may still hold a positive outlook on the whole of your life if your foundation or core is strong.  If, however, your foundation is off balance, any challenges in your life will throw your whole world out of balance and affect other parts of your life adversely.

If this is the case, how do you get yourself back on track?  Feng shui teaches that each piece is an aspect of the whole, so it’s important to remember that every piece is important, even though one may be the one screaming for attention.  Go back down to your foundation, find the strength coming from the other corners of your life and use the things that ARE working in your life to help put everything into perspective and balance.  This can be done most effectively through gratitude; it’s been proven that tapping into things you’re grateful for shifts outlook.

Look around you, find at least four things, foundational things that you are grateful for, things you know that give you strength to get through your days.  Examples are a family member, spouse, children, friends, pets, a higher power or spiritual guidance.  Sometimes I’m just grateful for living in the U.S. and all the opportunities that affords.  Just remember to nurture the foundational things in your life, because it is those that will carry you through the rough times.    And, it’s “good feng shui!”
