The words used to describe the number 3 in numerology are catalyst and creativity.  A catalyst is something that, when introduced into a situation, changes it in some way without imposing its own energy into it.  An example of this would be a marriage counselor; the counselor is invited in for a time to help augment change but is not actually part of the relationship.  Another example would be an ingredient such as alcohol that affects change in a recipe but dissipates and leaves no traces of itself.

In feng shui as well as numerology, the number 3 represents creativity.  We enter the world as an individual (1) and take on a relationship (2); out of this relationship comes a creative expression, the ultimate being a child.  This child then goes out into the world and continues the cycle – and becomes a catalyst in his/her own right.  There are cycles within cycles.

The result of a creative expression is joy.  I’ve never painted, except maybe paint-by-number when I was a kid, but recently a friend urged me to pick up a brush, choose a color and put something on canvas.  I was petrified but pushed through – and I am now painting!  It doesn’t matter whether I’m any good or not, I’m just having fun doing something creative and it makes me happy.  So joy is the end-product of a creative expression.

Any time we can add some joy into this world it’s a very good thing, and that energy uplifts everyone around us.  We all know it’s a lot more fun to be around people who are happy than angry or frustrated. So do something creative and fun today – it’s “good feng shui”!
